http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anime

I also got to see the first dvd of Lucky Star, This is another schoolgirl anime, somewhere between Azumanga Diaoh and The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. The cuteness factor is very high, humor is great, especially if you have seen a number of the other anime that are referred to in this one. It's just a lot of fum, so go for it

Just finished, Requiem from the Darkness:

What They Say
In the 1860s, Japan is in turmoil. A would-be author of this feudal period, Momosuke is tired of writing children's stories. Travelling the countryside in search of one hundred ghost stories that will comprise a book, he meets with three mysterious figures: a trickster, Mataichi; a beautiful puppeteer named Ogin; and Nagamimi, a bird caller. The trio move through the countryside dispensing karmic retribution on the truly evil. Each episode finds Momosuke and his strange friends dealing with a different horror inspired by traditional Japanese legends and folk stories. REQUIEM FROM THE DARKNESS - COMPLETE SERIES contains every episode from the series across four volumes

This is one of the strangest pieces of anime I've seen. Very different stylistically. The stories are very episodic, so you can watch them as you want, though Momosuke does grow over the series. If you don't like horror, you are a bit squeemish at gory scenes or prefer comedy or love stories, skip this one. This is a great, dark, gory, evil, horror series, one that will require more than one viewing to catch all the finer points. It's a shame Geneon is gone, they were the only ones bringing us these odd niche market gems.

I've heard of that one, and seen pictures, it does look funny. One I'd like to see sometime. I've also head of Lum but haven't seen it.

I have seen Pani Poni Dash, it is rather way out comedy. It's like Asumanga Daioh on crack. I did laugh a lot, and it seemed to get better as it went on. You like wierd and crazy comedy, you might like Nerima Daikon Borthers. A anime musical??? With some ties to the movie Blues Brothers, the writer was a big fan.

Just watched Ayakashi Samurai Horror Tales, Goblin Cat. The third volume in the series. The first volume was thoroughly unimpressive, but my son told me I would like this one. He was quite right.

Death has nine lives...

In the Edo era of Japan, as cultural arts, modern science, and technology flourished, so too did the practice of mystical arts, as humanity faced the perils of the supernatural!

In a village, at an old samurai residence, a young bride is mysteriously and brutally murdered right before her wedding ceremony, sending the family into a hysterical panic. An enigmatic medicine vendor determines that this is the work of "the goblin cat," but more bizarre incidents follow, as family members are killed off one-by-one by an unseen attacker. Only the medicine vendor knows how to stop the goblin cat, but in order to do so, he must uncover the connection between this creature and the samurai family's deeply hidden, scandalous past!

The animation is made to look like watercolors on handmade paper. It's quite interesting. The story is much better than the other volumes. It may be a well used plot, but is interestingly done. There actually was a spin off series using the Medicine vendor. It's around 70minutes, and if you like supernatural tales, this one is worth watching.

I just finished Kurenai, which I like very much. Right now I'm watching The Gargoyle of the Yoshinagas and The Best Student Council.

Elfen Leid, which despite the high fan-service content is actually decent. Sort of. It would be decent if Lucy stayed Scary Lucy and ripped the #&@( out of everyone. The 2nd episode on the beach! Freaky! I cried tears of terror!!
....which, admittedly, isn't saying much, since I cried from fear the first time I saw "Shawn of the Dead". Yes, I know it's a comedy....
.....sometimes you have to lose your mind to find it......
