Well, our 18 days in paradise is over. Well, pretty near paradise. It's a really beautiful place, and a lot of fun. The biggest surprise...... you can drink the water pretty much anywhere in the country. You can also eat salads and all that.
The country's just the size of West Virginia and a population of 4.5 million. World's largest exporter of Pineapples. They also export coffee, bananas and micro chips. They have more than 25% of the country set aside as nature preserves and national parks. They have quite a few volcanoes, Arenal has been active for more than 20 years.
We had a rocky start, freezing drizzle here didn't slow us down much and our flight to Atlanta Georgia went well. We left Atlanta about 7pm, supposed to be a 3.5 hour flight to San Jose. An hour out over the gulf, the pilot told us the plane was experiencing mechanical problems and we were returning to Atlanta. The put us on a different plane at Atlanta and finally got us in the air again, 5 hours late. We got to San Jose around 3:30 am. we got less than 2 hours sleep that night.
Our first day we saw the national theater in San Jose. An impressive building.
Then on to the coffee plantation, I'm sure Sakura wants to hear about that........... but that's next time.
