Anone tried this thingy? I'm about to buy a student copy of Windows 7 home for 35 Euro. The test says I cannot use all features and my barcode label printer is most likely out of function.. That (!"/%& thingy was 200 Euro, considering that 220 labels cost about 15 Euro.

Is W7 really the blast?

I don't need it (yet), so I'm staying with my pirated copy of XP. People that beta tested it said it was good, but I haven't really tested it. I'm inclined to believe them, though, given Microsoft's history of fixing the biggest issues using late service packs (which I strongly believe Win7 to be, despite what everyone else tells me).

From all the magazine articles Ive read, they think W7 is what Vista should have been. If you really want to get the best features, you need to get the premium or business packages. It is a bit faster than XP, and even small enough to run on a netbook. Some magazine guys tried running it on an old 486 pentium with 512mb ram. It worked, but rather slowly. this might help http://www.pcworld.com/topics/windows.html

A nice, sarcastic article taken from the link given by oldwrench: http://www.pcworld.com/article/173922/m ... ows_7.html

Conclusion, get a mac, or ask for linux on your pc.

Written by a true mac fanboy, isn't it....... And he did say something about the nightmare of some pimple face teenager's idea of a driver stack......... linux, great if you're a software engineer, with a good background in unix. The OS most preferred by hackers.

Guess I'll keep my valid XP Pro for now. The price of 35 Euro sounds very nice.

I'll keep my old XP till I build or buy a new machine. I still have a new copy of XP, bought it for a machine I didn't get around to building. I don't really need all the pretty toys of the new OS.
