OK, I am SICK AND SICK AND SICK AND TIRED of people going on and on about how western manga sucks. I'm disgusted. They deserve a break, not to mention I like Ben Dunn, Svetlana Chmakova, Fred Perry and Lea Hernandez better than any Japanese artist.
You can like japanese comics better, go ahead, you can HATE western manga too while your at it. BUT PLEAE PUT A SOCK IN IT IF I SEE ONE MORE 'I HATE WESTERN MANGA' FORUM ON THE NET I WILL PUKE.

Hmmm, I haven't heard anyone here say they hate western manga. If you hadn't brought it up, I don't think it ever would have been said here either. We all can chose what we want, isn't it great to have so many choices, but we don't need to belittle others because they have a different opinion. I run into this all the time at anime cons...... the dub and anti-dub factions, it gets pretty heated and so annoying. It might have made a difference back in the day of video tapes, but with dvd's, who cares, you have the best of both worlds. With manga too, if you don't like western manga, you don't have to buy it. Just remember, the people who make the biggest fuss about being purists and hating something like western manga, are just trying to pretend that they're somehow better than you.

So very true (God bless the ones who came up with Matroska and similar multimedia containers). I personally don't find anything wrong with western "manga" (I think there's a different word to call these works (like manwha for korean comics), but I can't find it right now). I actually read a lot of webcomics (since I can't really find cheap manga magazines around here... Shonen Jump is the cheapest and runs at about 15 bucks

Dang. 15 bucks! pssh its been like 9month since I bought a manga.

I said I hate western dubs, western hip hop, western marketing... but manga? First, there is no western manga. It's called "Comic" and has nothing to do with similar products of japanese origin. I actually like western hent^H^H^H^H comics alot.

Are they just making fun of if 4kids got it hands on DeathNote or is that an actual screenshot?

You know also, if Fox and CW are the only buyers, then of course your gonna market it at kids. CN only wants more "mature" shows, so shows like One piece are gonna get dumbed down and edited to market at kids.

In the U.S. Cartoon is still seen as kids shows, same with comics, people still see comics as Kids books.

Thats why I really like what Marvel did. You have Marvel adventure which takes the old storylines and make them kid friendly, while the true Marvel Universe itself is untouched.

It's just a joke there, Kira. But in the US there are some quite draconian censorship codes as to what can be shown on television at various times of the day. Funny that "educational" TV, like the public TV network can get away with just about anything. I've seen pretty close to straight out porn on in a few scenes masterpiece theater.
