This category of anime interests me quite a lot. I have finished watching Paprika just a moment ago, I really enjoyed it - even though it was the weirdest movie I've ever seen! I recommend it, highly! It has a wonderful soundtrack that is composed by Susumu Hirasawa
So, the people of allanime.org, what "psychology" anime interests you the most? What is your opinion on this matter?
Speak your minds!

If you don't like that type of anime, then what is your favorite type?

Psycho thrillers
Perfect Blue: older anime by the same people as Paprika. Two other very good anime by them, Millenium Actress, and Tokyo Godfathers.
Paranoia Agent: Really a great series, mind bending and strange.
Serial Experiments, Lain: One of the first of the very mind blowing Psycho anime. There have been hours of discussion on this one, what is real and what is the wired?
Boogiepop Phantom: A very convoluted and very interesting story. Very mixed time line. There are some good novels of this story out too.
Petite Cossette: One dvd, and only three oav's, but what a great story. Also named Le Portrait de Petite Cossette, it is about a young artists infatuation with the girl in a portrait, and his descent into the supernatural and madness.
So many others have a lot of psychological undertones. Gunslinger Girl, Key, the Metal Idol, Yukikaze, Even the great classic Neon Genesis Evangelion fits, it isn't about the Eva's, it's about Shinji's psyche.
I haven't found a genre of anime that I don't like. There seems to be some very good stuff in all types, some great story telling.

I like Haibane Renmei most

Yes Sakura, that is one of the best anime I have seen. Such a beautiful story of sin and repentance, and of friendship. Even I get emotionally tied up in that anime. It got Dinky crying when Kuu disappeared. The ending is very emotional. I guess I wouldn't call it one of the psycho thriller types, but the whole story is psychologically and emotionally driven.
By the way, my son and I met Carrie Savage at Anime Detour right after she had finished the dub of the main character, Racca. It was her first anime con, and she has returned every year, we have become friends. She is just as sweet a person as her character in Haibane Renmei.

I simply do not understand why there isn't a sequel yet... the story has lots of potential followups

I'm actually currently watching Paranoia Agent and Perfect Blue. I want to watch more by Satoshi Kon.
