My mom and two sisters were here over last night, they were impressed with the new house....... this is good.

I played 16 games of Volleybal on Saturday in the sun and the heat. I turned very red from the sun, but we ended up winning the tournoment and we won $25 each. Not much for a 10am - 7pm day of work, but we had fun.

Not much? Why, I remember when.........

Ok, that was a long time ago, but when I started working it was for a buck an hour.

Of course, back then a bottle of pop was ten cents, and a candy bar was a nickle. I was pumping gas at five gallons for a dollar. We thought those guys with the big Caddilacs had to be really rich to afford to fill them with premium gas, it cost them almost ten dollars.

The good news, I spent all weekend on a golf trip. 36 holes Friday, 36 Holes Saturday, 18 Holes Sunday.
The bad news, I sucked. So I didn't win any money.

I went to a niece's wedding and my parents 65 wedding anniversary celebration this weekend. In Watertown Wisconsin. Drove more than 1100k in two days. Took about five and a half hours one way to drive it. It does help that you can cruise at 120kph on the interstates. It was a nice wedding, good thing the church had air conditioning. All my sisters were there and lots of their kids and grand kids. They took pictures of my parents with all the great grandkids, what a big group that made. My parents had six kids, twenty six grandkids and I don't even know how many great grandkids. We stayed at a bed and breakfast overnight, it was a very interesting old house and they had a great breakfast. They also had a very old, restored, player piano and about 500 music rolls. That brought back memories because we had an old player piano when I was a kid. Somebody gave it to my parents so we could learn to play piano. (they tried, but I never did) The only music roll we had was "Stars and Striped Forever" we had a great time playing that, till everyone was sick of it, I'm sure.

The weather finally got a little better here. Hope it stays this way a while..........fat chance of that happening.

That sounds like a fun road trip. Weddings are fun as long as you are not in them.

I saw a good program on our Public Broadcasting station, it was on the series called Point of View. The program was from Zera's country, Columbia. It was about a school teacher who started a program he named BiblioBurro. He takes books on his donkey, Beto, and travels to the remote villages to educate the children. He hopes to make a change for the better in the country by bringing education to the children. It was a heartwarming story.

Have you ever heard anything about this Zera?

I found out that OAT is planning to start tours of Columbia, that could get interesting. Maybe some day I'll be able to meet Zera.

Yeah, heard about it years ago. People took notice and some are trying to imitate him with different resources. The air force as a flying library (on an old DC-3) serving mostly the amazon and east plains region, and Bancolombia, one of the biggest banks here (if not THE biggest), has a couple busses serving that role as well throughout the country.
