Re: Becoming a novelist
Oooh...becoming pro...it's one of my dreams. I love to write(type) up stories. My talents isn't up to being pro yet but I manage to come up with pretty decent ones. Maybe that's a reason why I like doing RPGs they help me with writing...
My biggest problem would be...writing detailed descriptions...and being dedicated enough. Wait that's, two...meh, anyways I always have a bunch of plots and scenes in my head and they're mostly typed up or written down but they don't seem to match...

Ya, Yuki has some good stories, check her web page, it's on her profile.
Dogs have owners, Cats have staff
Some mistakes are too much fun to only make once.

Re: Becoming a novelist
It seems no one has their original characters/story in order
My most retarding factor seems to be lack of time lately :(

Re: Becoming a novelist
Isn't that the truth... I've been so busy with school that I've had problems sticking to my day to day writing. I've read that in order to continue improving as a writer you need to write every day, the average being two hours. Others set a certain number of words. I forget who it is but one author has it set that he writes 2,000 words every day and he will not do anything until that is completed.
Re: Becoming a novelist
That's nuts D: I'd be done in a little more than a month at 2k a day. I'll try to somehow finish my entire first draft over the summer
Have you gotten your characters and plot down, agito?

Re: Becoming a novelist
ummm....roughly...I'd show you guys my first draft but it sucks so much.
It's not even a first draft really... more like draft zero...

Re: Becoming a novelist
I'll give you a good critique if you do
It might be better if you post a chapter at a time, lest a tl;dr is forced. I don't have much literary know-how, but if you're planning to take this seriously I can be an ass and tell you what parts I don't like, if there are any.

Re: Becoming a novelist
It's not a series. It's just a short story just at about 3,000 words right now. I really want to flesh it out a bit more before posting it here and having some help from you guys. Believe me, I will be posting it, but only after I get past draft zero and into something that isn't a train wreck.
Re: Becoming a novelist
How do you go about publishing a (single) short story?
