Becoming a novelist
Re: Becoming a novelist
That's why you have to write it down right when it comes to you

Re: Becoming a novelist
That's my problem, something will hit when I'm at work or somewhere where I dont have access to pen and paper.
You don't see yourself clearly at all. You're not like anyone I've ever known. You Fascinate me.
Re: Becoming a novelist
Excuse me but that is some poor company

What do you call a dinosaur with an extended vocabulary? A thesaurus.

lol, I have open office, I just mean, I can't very well stop working and whip out a pad and start writing down ideas.

Sometimes the best writing comes when you don't have an idea and you just start writing but then again it gets really annoying when nothing comes out... leading me to a question. What is the hardest thing to do when you are writing? For me it's substance. I get all my ideas down but they feel like empty shells compared to where they are after countless drafts. What about you guys?

Re: Becoming a novelist
For me it would be details. My stories normally come to me like this:
1- main character goes from A to B
2- main character does C
3- ???
4- PROFIT!
And it's up to my writing hand to fill up the blanks and details of the surroundings and stuff like that, which can get (for me, at least) a little distracting from the story itself. This is why most of my stories tend to be fairly fast-paced...

So, Lone Star, now you see that evil will always triumph... because good is DUMB!
Re: Becoming a novelist
I have both yer problems >=O
My biggest problem is putting emotion into my characters. I'm editing and revising the entire story every time I finish a chapter to make it better. As this is the start of a series, it's success is necessary to pave the road for the rest, so I won't let the public eye see it until it's perfect

Re: Becoming a novelist
Well, every time I have an idea and write it down, it just doesn't seem nearly as good written down as it did in my imagination. It must be that writing misses o much of the picture you have in your mind.
