Can we say..... SCAM??? I Thought I had a buyer for my big tool box I listed on Craig's list. The person sent me a bank check, but it's for almost double the amount of money. He wants me to cash the check and send the rest to his shipper...... OOOOOoooooo does this sound fishy, or what? I don't think I'll try cashing that check.

His last message

Hello,
The check will be delivered to your address today via FedEx,here is the FedEx tracking number 797458919652 the check was sent to you directly from my company account and it was for $9750 so proceed to your bank to deposit the check and the funds will be available in your account within 24 hours, after the check clears your bank usually within 24hours of deposit you will deduct $5000 for your Mac Tools Macsimizer M class III tool box and send the excess fund of $4750 to my shipper so he can pickup the fund to pickup the Mac Tools Macsimizer M class III tool box and other items i purchased to be picked up.
Note:this is a depository account so don't try to cash the check instantly because the bank won't cash it for you therefore you need to take the check to your bank regardless of the bank you're using perhaps Bank of America,J. P. Morgan Chase,Wachovia,Wells Fargo or Credit Union they will verify the check with my bank and clear the funds into your account within 24hours of deposit.
Get back to me to confirm the receipt of the check today and proceed to deposit.

Almost $5000 for shipping? This just reeks of a scam. I would take it to the bank, and tell them your concerns. They probably already know who to contact for fraud investigations. And they don't even need to invetigate this one. They may be able to work with you as it happens to track the criminals.

I filed it with the government's Internet crime complaint center, they can deal with it from there. I also advised Advanstar Communications of the fake check going out in their name.

I see a scam there, too. But you can forge ERRR write out a check to him for the remaining $4xxx ("Bank of Ducktown", c/o Donald Duck)

Our webserver has been hit by a denial of service attack (DOS). Between 8 am and 4 pm we had an average of 4,200 incoming requests per second. The kids lost interest at 4pm. Now we're back to less than 20 requests/second.

Just fyi in case you tried to log in during that time. O-kun is going to reinstall the webserver ASAP.

Sorry for the trouble... :meh:

Wife's aunt died, I was a casket bearer. I don't like funerals, too many weepy people, SHE included. At our age, there are bound to be many more funerals in the next few years.

Work has been hell for almost the last week.
At least I am starting to see the light and the end of the tunnel.

The light at the end of the tunnel could be an oncoming train engine.

Going back to the Hospital Next week and pray for WLAN. Won't get it though. I Need to change things in my life and I don't want to take drastic measures.
