My batteries are a bit better than that, since I could listen an entire day with 1 AAA battery (not anymore, though). Or my thing needs less energy. Ohohoho.

I had one of those, given to me as a gift. I only used it as a standard USB flash drive, though, since I didn't want to spend my money on batteries.

Well, that's true. Batteries cost a fortune if you have to buy a lot D: And if you lose them (which happens to me occasionally)... D:

They're cheap here: 8 AAA batteries (1.5V) are € 1.69.

And here, they are expensive. 4 AAA batteries are around 3 USD, which is 2.15 Euros, more or less.

Well you *can* buy 4 AAA batteries for up to € 6.99 depending on the brand. Perhaps the "high quality" batteries have 10% more electrons stored in them?

Dunno, but I've found that, indeed, most "expensive"-branded batteries do last longer than the rest. IMO it has to do with construction and components quality.

Who cares it you have to pay the triple price for just 20% more? According to the blister package they're all eco-friendly and recycleable.

Perhaps you could ask O-kun to send you a bunch of these by snail mail? Pretty sure he would if you pay for them. I just rechecked: € 1.79 for 8x AAA or 8x AA or 2x 9V (the cubic ones). I think they have large Mono, too but I cannot remember if there are 2 or 4 in every blister.

He also just told me, they're good for 10 years or more if you put them in a freezer. (only in waterproof plastic bag)
