*Daiki was already panting wildly when he got outside. Aki hadn't made a sound but she was trembling on his shoulder. He managed to fight off the kitsunes that attacked them but he was tired too. He saw the glow of the police cars and he headed for them.*

???: AKI!!! *Daiki landed in front of Ai.*

Daiki: Ai-san...*Daiki gently placed Aki down, her head was downcast and her mass of green hair covered her entire face but she was still trembling.*

Ai: Aki?

*Aki's head whipped up, her eyes glowed a bright red and she had a determined expression.*

Aki: Mama...take this off.*Aki pointed to the band around her neck and Ai gasped, she knew that binding spell and she knew that it was one of the spells that was almost impossible to take off.*

Ai: Aki...

Aki: I want you to take it off Mama. I can't use magic with it on.

Ai: We...

Daiki: No! You said it yourself...it'll kill you if we take it off by force.

Eiji: You don't take it off by force, you foolish kit! *Daiki whipped around to glare at his grandfather.* That binding spell can only taken off by magic.

Daiki: Well, take it off then!

Ai: It's not that simple Daiki-kun...if it comes in contact with any kind of magic it sends twice the amount of shocks through Aki's body.

Daiki: What?

Eiji: It's a binding spell we use on prisoners, but it's been banned just a century ago. Since black magic has driven many mages into greedy fits, they banned black magic and that binding spell uses black magic.

Aki: Just take it off!

Ai: Aki we can't...you're tired and wounded and you're probably hungry.

Eiji: If we're going to get that spell off you, you need all the rest you can get kit. No one can survive something a dispelling that powerful.

*Aki clenched her hands and her fingernails dug into her palms, she was shaking and her voice was dangerously low.*

Aki: Mike is in there fighting that Osamu bastard without any magic help whatsoever...he's in there because of me and I will go help him. Now whether you take of this damned spell or not I am going back there. I don't care if it hurts like hell everytime I use magic *tears welled in her eyes as her gaze never fell.* but if you take this spell off I'll be more useful. Take it off Eiji-sama. *Her chin held up she waited for the Elder to comply.*

*Eiji sighed before he laid his wrinkled hands on the band around Aki's neck.*

Ai: No! Wait- *Daiki caught the elder kitsune on the waist as she struggled.* Please...Aki...Aki might not sur-survive!

Daiki, whispering: Ai-san respect your daughter's wish. Believe in her, please.

*Aki closed her eyes and waited for the painful ordeal to come. Eiji had chanted a spell, an Elemental spell. The strongest Elemental Fire spell he knew and focused it all on the band.*

*Aki couldn't stifle the scream that clawed up her throat as her knees gave and she crumpled to the ground. The pain shot through her, this time it wasn't anything she could put out of her mind, she couldn't ignore this pain like the other times. This pain made sure she felt it, over and over again. Aki clenched and unclenched her hands as she tried to get air into her system. She felt her insides burning. And she heard the sweet insistent voice calling to her. Telling her to give up, to let go and go to sleep. And for a moment she almost did...the pain muddled her thinking, her reason and she almost let go of the lifeline. But she saw blue eyes, bright eyes filled with kindness. She couldn't...there was a reason she was going through this pain.*

*Ai wrapped her arms around herself as she knelt beside Aki's prone figure. Just a second ago she was writhing and gasping bow she was quiet and still. Her chest wasn't rising and falling, not even a little.*

Eiji: She...didn't make it.

Daiki: No...that...

Eiji: Is she breathing boy? She's not. She's dead. She couldn't withstand the spell. Not many can though I commend her, she had enough courage to try.

*Ai covered her face with her eyes and started weeping. Daiki turned his face away, anguish evident. Eiji looked up and offered a short prayer to the gods.*

???: N-not d-dead...I'm n-not de...dead. *a cough.*

*Ai lifted her head. Daiki looked back. Eiji brought his gaze down to the cough girl.*

Aki: I'm not dead. I--I'm fine. *Aki pushed herself up slowly,wincing. The band around her neck crumbled and fell of piece by piece.*

*Osamu saw Daiki take the girl away, he knew this was his chance. He would crush this useless human, then he would take the girl away. Osamu conjured his most powerful killing spell and wrapped it around Mike. Mike sagged, blackness filled him as his legs weakened. Mike remembered Aki on the bed and this evil Kitsune laying over her. Rage and hatred forced Mike to strain against the black magic. Mike's amulet glowed fiercely and he was surrounded by the golden glow. Mike stood and pressed harder against the barrier of protection around Osamu.*

*Osamu was frightened, no human could withstand that......what was that unearthly glow? What was this boy? His protection barrier was breaking down, soon the monster would be able to reach him. Osamu struck out with his claws. He rakes across Mike's face and chest. The golden amulet hung out of Mike's torn shirt, Osamu saw it, he thought it must be the source of Mike's magic. Osamu grabbed the amulet and tried to rip it off, but the leather cord was impossibly strong. Osamu shouted as he jerked back his terribly burned hand.*

Mike finally broke down the barrier around the evil mage, when the mage tried to take his amulet. Mikes big hand wrapped tightly around the throat of the evil kitsune. Osamu looked in terror at the inhuman eyes of the tall boy. they glowed electric blue around the infinite blackness of death. The amulet glowed fiercely as electric arcs played around Mikes hands. Mike drew back his fist.*

Mike: Now die. *Osamu screamed*

*Kelly looked up at the building, others jerked round to look. Several bolts of lightning struck the south wing of the building, one after another, coming from a cloudless sky. The south wing of the building burst into flame.*

*Mike collapsed, his energy drained. as the room started to fill with smoke, he thought of Aki. Mike hoped Daiki had gotten her safely away.*

*Daiki knelt by Aki, he struggled to take off his shirt, he could hardly close his hand because of the wound on his arm. Daiki draped the shirt around Aki.*

Daiki: No chance you're going back in there, Aki. You're in no condition to help...... *Daiki looked back at the flames coming from the roof.* Your magic wouldn't help much now..... Unless you can conjure up a lot of water.

*Daiki got up, he was going to have to try to find Mike. Damn, where was Hideki, he could use the help.Suddenly Kimara was there. The dog girl wrapped her arms around him.*

Kimara: Daiki! I was so worried, I didn't think you were ever coming out.

*Daiki saw the elder frowning at him. Daiki glared at the elder as he wrapped his good arm around the girl and held her close. The elder could think what he wanted, Daiki had found one thing that was right. Daiki looked down at Kimara as he moved her away.*

Daiki: I have to go find Mike, he may need help.

Kimara: No, don't go! you're hurt. Please, let someone else.

*Daiki looked down to tell Aki he was going back for Mike........ but she was gone.


*Mike heard a soft voice in his head..... a woman's voice. The voice was telling him to get up, that he had to get out. Mike opened his eyes and saw the flames, the smoke. He crawled out of the room, the flames closed off the far end of the hall, he would have to go to the front doors. Mike dragged himself to his feet, and coughing from the smoke staggered toward the center room.*

*Kaoru was trying to make sure everyone was out when he came on the stumbling boy.*

Kaoru: Hurry, you need to get out......... you!!?? What are you doing here?...... The girl, you came for her.... Where is she, is she still in there?

Mike, no, she should be out by now. *Coughs*

*Kaoru helped Mike down the stairway and toward the door, suddenly they were confronted by a figure pointing a gun at them.*

Aiden: This is your doing! A hundred generations of records, a hundred generations of planning, all of our work.... ruined. I'll kill you. I'll kill that boy........ I'll kill you, then I'll kill your wife and child. You've ruined everything.

*Aiden aimed the gun at Mike first since Kaoru wasn't all that hard to get rid off. Mike and Kaoru waited, formulating a plan when all of a sudden Aiden yelped and the gun fell from his hands. Aiden cradled his burnt hand and turned around to glare at whomever shot the offending flame.*

Aki: You aren't killing anyone! You...*Aki panted as she leaned against the wall, the binding spell was gone but she was tired and her body was sore.* You...can't. So many have died because of this place. You've ruined hundreds of l-lives...

Aiden: You're that kitsune wench! I knew we should have just killed you! *Aiden, filled with rage, started to stalked towards Aki. He picked up his fallen gun with his unburned hand and aimed it threateningly at the little kitsune.*

Aki: Don't come near me or I'll burn you!*Aki hope Aiden wouldn't call her bluff, she was too tried and disoriented to try even a simple fire spell.*

Aiden: Oh? *Aiden stopped and pulled the trigger, the resounding 'bang' of the gun echoed in the crumbling halls. Aki peeked from her closed lids, a bullet-shaped dent was just beside her ear. Aki saw a blur of movement behind Aiden and she remembered that Mike and another man was with her.*

*Mike felt sluggish. He was sure he was dead, till Aiden yelled and dropped the gun. When Aiden turned Mike saw Aki standing by the wall. Mike watched Aiden take the gun and start forward...... Aki had to stop him..... she would burn him again, wouldn't she? Mike felt like lead, he couldn't move. The explosion of the gun shocked Mike, he was to late....... suddenly Mike could move.*

*Aiden screamed and dropped the gun as Mikes grip shattered the bones in his arm. Mike spun Aiden around and wrapped a hand around his throat, lifting him off the ground. Mike's grip tightened, he was about to crush the life out of the man when he stopped.*

Aki yelled out: Stop Mike. Don't kill him.

*Mike lowered the Aiden and looked at Aki. He couldn't believe what he saw........ Aki was alive, unhurt. Mike threw the gasping, coughing, Aiden aside and stepped over to Aki. Aki looked up at the tall blond boy, his face was dirty, and cut from Osamu's claws, his shirt torn, and bloody from the claw cuts, his blond hair a mess. Right now, he was the most wonderful thing she'd ever seen. Aki wrapped her arms around Mike. He could feel her trembling sobs, Mike felt Aki sag as the last day and a half of terror and fatigue washed over her. Mike scooped Aki up and held her. He looked at the sobbing girl cradled against his chest, wearing Daiki's shirt, her grean hair a mess, her eyes filled with tears....... she was the most beautiful thing he'd ever seen.*

*Daiki stood inside the door as police officers took Aiden and Kaoru away. He watched Mike for a moment then turned and left. As the firemen rushed by him dragging their hoses, Daiki smiled ruefully, he'd lost......... but then...... he saw Kimara coming toward him......... had he really lost? Kimara had found a first aid kit, and as she took a small pouch of medicine out of her bag, Daiki marveled that she always had just the right thing in that bag. Kimara was the most caring person he had ever known. She really was his magical girl.*

*As firemen dragged hoses past them, Mike kissed a tear from Aki's cheek. As her arms wrapped around his neck, Mike looked into Aki's soft crimson eyes, her soft red lips so close.......*

*Aki was lost in the blue depths, they were so...blue, like the sky when it was a sunny day or the bright blue ocean. A force urged her closer...closer to him, to his lips. Her lids fluttered down and she felt him closing in and she followed suit. Their lips would meet.*

*Kyo threw the last beaten up kitsune to another kitsune warrior and put an arm around Ai and smiled. Ai looked up at him and returned it. Then Kyo's own soft smile turned into a scowl and when Ai followed the direction of his gaze she saw her daughter in the arms of that tall blond boy--Mike, was it? They were close, and getting closer and obviously they would kiss. She felt Kyo tense up and start to move, she placed a restraining hand on his arm, Kyo whipped around and she shook her head.*

Ai: Let them be, Kyo.

Kyo: But--but he's going to-

Ai, grinning: I know, that's why I said "let them be".

*Kyo was about to protest again but Ai drew him away and pulled him towards the groups of people. Reluctantly the Kyo followed but he was grumbling under his breathe all the time.*

*All pain and fatigue forgotten, Mike's lips drew closer to Aki's, He could feel her soft breath on his lips. Finally he was going to feel the soft touch of his first kiss.........*

Fireman: HEY!! You two, what are you doing here? The place is on fire....... GET OUT!!

*Mike's head jerked up, he looked at the fireman.*

Fireman: Go on, get out.... *He turned away.* Geeze..... go rent a room somewhere.

*Mike sighed and carried Aki away from the building. Worn out, Mike sank to his knees, still holding Aki, he didn't want to let her go. Mike looked down at her and laughed at the unhappy pout on her face. Aki gently touched one of the deep scratches on Mikes face.*

Aki: I think we need to find Kimara.

Kimara: I'm right here. *She came up with Daiki right behind her.* Oh my! What happened to you, Mike?... *Kimara quickly searched her bag and brought out several packets of medicines.*

*Kaoru tried to convince Kelly of their cause.*

Kaoru: You must understand, you're human. We can't allow our race to be tainted by these other races. We have to keep the race pure. The genesis group has kept the records of pure humans for generations. We've only tried to chose the best to bring out the best qualities in each generation. We had to do what we did. You're human you have to agree with us. We needed Micheal Tanaka, he's the best human specimen we have ever found. If he and my daughter were together, their offspring would be the finest, pure humans ever produced.

*Kelly started laughing, she had a hard time stopping. This was too good.*

Kelly: You idiots...... I wish your plan had succeeded. That would have been real justice for you. You could have ruined your..... cause..... all by yourselves, without all this mess.

Kaoru: But.... But, their children would be the epitome of human development. How could that ruin our program?

Kelly chuckled as she started walking away: Because Mike isn't human.


*Mike carefully, if reluctantly, set Aki down. Kimara set to work, gently rubbing a soft medicinal paste on Mike's cuts. Aki opened the torn remains of Mike's shirt. She winced at the deep scratches across his chest. Aki helped Kimara smear the paste on the cuts, while Mike bit his lip trying not to make any outcry. Aki lifted the heavy amulet Mike wore and looked at it, she hadn't looked at it before, it was always under Mike's shirt. It must be solid gold to be so heavy, and the designs were interesting. So this was what glowed when Mike was fighting. She wondered what made it glow.*

Aki: So this is what glows when you're fighting....... What makes it glow, Mike? It just looks like solid metal.

*A kitsune elder was watching the girls treating Mike's cuts. Though he didn't approve of the dog girl Daiki seemed to be with, he was interested in how well her medications seemed to be working. He was also quite unhappy that Aki seemed to be so attached to the big human boy. This wouldn't do at all. She couldn't be allowed to fall for a human....... He saw the amulet Aki was examining, and his eyes got wide...... He knew what that amulet was..... Thor's amulet........... it was in the oldest of the ancient manuscripts..... the legends of the ancient ones. And did she say it glowed. But it couldn't be!*

[Raine]

*Rina shove gently hideki,and rush forward to hug aki*

Rina:Don't ever do that again!!!

Kunikida:please don't!!Rina actually nearly kill dozens of people in that building especcially the firemen who interupt the two of you*he grin*

Mike: Well, it looks like my plan to quietly rescue everyone then let the police handle things, ah......... went up in smoke.

Kunikida: Right......... You didn't have to burn the place to the ground. *Kunikida looked from the building up to the clear sky.* How the hell did you do that anyway?

Mike: Huh?? I didn't start the fire........ I got really mad at the guy, and I kind of beat on him a bit to hard. But that's all.

Kunikida: Sure, and maybe you called down the wrath of the gods or something.

Mike: Well, anyway, I'm glad you got out alright Rina. Did you get everyone out? You and Hideki will have to tell us about it. *Mike noticed Kelly standing there.* Oh, Kelly...... um, I'm sorry about taking your car. We were kinda in a hurry, and, well, I thought we could get Aki without starting a big fuss.....

Kelly: Ya, sure...... just look at the place. Who needs to start a war with you kids around....... You're just damn lucky I came. The bunch of you could have ended up in jail. I told the police that you and Hideki were acting under orders from Level Zero, or they would have arrested you. I want to see both of you boys at headquarters...... this afternoon, then I'll decide whether to court marshal the both of you.

*Kelly turned and walked away, trying not to laugh at the expression on their faces. She'd just let them worry a bit, they needed it. She'd have to think up some kind of punishment. Kelly looked at the cloudless sky....... but damn, Thor's son?? It must have been him. Mike didn't even realize what he'd done. Kelly shook her head, she was sure of it now, what if she told command, they'd think she's nuts......... or would they?
