*Aki sighed when Mike didn't answer the call. She stopped after trying twice, pouting she turned to Kimara.*

Aki: Michael-kun didn't answer...I guess he's busy...

Kimara: Yea, well...*Kimara didn't know what to say, she wasn't sure what Mike was doing but if he didn't answer his phone then maybe he was still with Selene.* Do you want to go out? We could stop by Kelly-san's shop since it's inthe mall.

Aki: I suppose...

Ai: Knock, knock... *Ai peeked inside her daughter's room.* Daiki's downstairs, he's asking if you're free.

*Aki look at Kimara and Kimara looked at Aki. Then they both shrugged.*

Aki: I'm going shopping with Kimara-chan, mama...I'll go ask Daiki if he wants to join.

*Kimara joined Ai downstairs, Daiki was a little surprised to see the dog-demon enter the living room. Upstairs Aki changed out of her house clothes into a knee-length skirt and a sleeveless zip up top. When she was finished she cheerily entered the living room where Daiki was chatting with Kimara.*

Aki: Ohayou Daiki! Kimara-chan and me were going to go out, do you want to join?

*Aki smiled innocently at Daiki who was a little suspicious at the very good mood of the little kitsune.*

Daiki: I guess...wait where are you going?

*Kimara watched as Aki's eyes absolutely twinkled and a mischievous grin took hold of her lips.*

Aki: Window shopping, *Aki said nonchalantly but her eyes betrayed her voice.* or maybe shopping in general.

Daiki: Urk...

Aki: Well? We could use someone who can carry the things we bought. *Aki fluttered her eyelashes and Kimara covered her mouth to muffle her giggles.*

Daiki: I'll go... *Kimara burst into giggles at the strangled voice Daiki used. Aki joined her. Daiki frowned, he didn't like being ridiculed.*

Aki: I was joking Daiki!!! Hahahaha-- You should've seen your face!....hahaha...*Aki stopped her giggles, just barely.* We--we were going out, though...and to the mall

Daiki: But...you aren't going shopping?

Aki: No...not really...

Kimara: But we might...

*Aki and Daiki looked at the grinning Kimara. Aki smiled evilly.*

Aki: Yea, we might.

*Daiki sighed and after a bit more teasing the trio left for the mall.*

* A group of black Toyota Land Cruisers stopped in front of Kelly's place and several soldiers jumped out of them. Samuel walked up to them and helped unload two big boxes from the back of the vehicles. *

Soldier: Dr. Freeman sent this along with the armors. It's to track SPARTAN-117.

Samuel: Excellent. What about the gunships?

Soldier: We have two attack helicopters on standby, less than 10 minutes away.

* Kelly walked out of the apartment, holding her backpack on one hand and an assault rifle on the other. As soon as she saw Shouko, she dropped the bag and aimed the rifle at her. *

Kelly: What are YOU doing here!?

* Hideki "woke up" and found himself looking up at Rina. He sat up and looked back at her, remembering what had happened and wondering if he should tell her or not. He sighed and smiled at her, deciding not to. *

Hideki: Say... do you know why they kidnapped you?

*Mike had no idea what was going on, but with Kelly pointing a gun at the elf girl, and Shouko readying a powerful magic spell, things didn't look good. Moving with startling speed, Mike scooped up the little elf and held her tight against his chest. Shouko tried to use her magic to force Mike to drop her, but he was determined to hold on. He didn't want Kelly shooting the small girl, at least when he didn't know why.*

Mike: Damn, now cut that out Shouko!!!!........ I hate elf magic, damn that hurt! *Mike's amulet began to glow, and Shouko's magic became less effective.*

Shouko, struggling: Let me down, big oaf!!! Will hurt you worse.

Mike: Don't make me angry little girl......... Now, I don't know what's going on between you two, but the first thing to do in a crisis situation is to open communications for negotiation.

*Shouko relaxed and leaned against Mike's chest, pouting.*

Shouko: You should have fall down.......... Shouko's magic didn't work. *Shouko noticed the warm amulet softly glowing under Mike's shirt, she touched her finger to it.* Hmmmm.

*Mike relaxed his grip, and held the little elf gently against him.*

Mike: Ya, don't worry about it, I just don't want Kelly to go shooting you, at least till we now what you're here for. *Mike looked up at Kelly.* Would someone tell me what's going on?

Kelly: Captain, get your ass out of the way! This so-called friend of you is the one that took John away.

Samuel: What!?

* Kelly snapped her fingers and the soldiers surrounded Michael and Shouko, bringing their weapons to bare. A couple of them took out barrier generators and set them forming a circle protecting everyone outside from spells. *

Kelly: Now let go of her, captain. And you! On the ground, hands on your head, NOW!

*Mike could feel Shouko tensing, readying another spell.*

Mike: Shouko! Don't! *Mike leveled his gaze at Kelly, now he was getting angry.*

*Shouko, startled, relaxed and looked at Mike...... now she could even see the glow of the amulet through Mikes shirt, and feel an energy that she didn't recognize.*

Mike: It's not going to happen Kelly. Shouko's not going anywhere till we hear what she has to say. If she took Hideki, why would she come back? Something isn't right.......... You better have your men back off, unless you want a bunch of people hurt.

*Kelly saw that frightening look in Mike's eyes, just like he'd had during the gang raid. Something not human.*

((I'm assuming that Kelly doesn't work and live in one building.))

*Kimara peeked through the glass door, pulled away and sighed. Daiki had a couple of paper bags hanging from his arms. Aki was spooning some icecream into her mouth.*

Kimara: No one's in there. It's closed...

Aki: Weely ay wander wahee kwel-y tsan kwolsed...

Daiki: Don't talk when you have a spoon in your mouth... *Daiki took the spoon and held it at the mildly irate Aki. The little kitsune stuck her tongue out.*

Aki: I said I wonder why Kelly-san's closed.

Kimara: Maybe she doesn't open until later?

Aki: Maybe...well I guess we'll just have to forget visiting Kelly-san.

Daiki: We can visit her at her place. We're done with the mall... *All three of them looked at the many paperbags with different logos, well maybe they should buy so much.*

Aki: Okay, let's go then.

*And the trio were headed for Kelly's place.*

* Kelly wasn't going to back off. She knew her odds were better, so she just kept aiming at them. All the time, Samuel had been checking the boxes knowing Kelly had the situation under control. When he got to the box with the tracking system, he looked at the screen, surprised. He typed in some commands and waited for the satellite info to update then looked at Kelly. *

Samuel: Kelly, you might want to look at this.

Kelly: I'm a little busy, if you haven't noticed!

Samuel: This is important, Kelly. It's about John's location.

* Kelly cursed under her breath and looked at Samuel, still aiming at the couple. *

Kelly: What is it!?

Samuel: John is on Linda Halsey's lab.

Kelly: What?

* Kelly lowered her rifle and walked up to Samuel to take a look at the screen. The gap in the circle as she left was quickly filled by another soldier who kept aiming at Shouko and Michael. *

Samuel: They are in the Amazon Pharma labs, her private workshop.

Kelly: When did that happen? Why hasn't our contacts there warned us?

Samuel: I... don't know. We haven't really known much about what's going on there lately, though.

Kelly: ... God... I have a bad feeling about this...

*Mike felt the little elf girl tense up as the soldier stepped into the ring.*

Shouko, quietly: Let me, big oaf, I'll make them go away.

*Mike half smiled..... that "big oaf" had almost sounded affectionate.*

Mike, Quietly: No Shouko, this would be a bad time for your magic. I don't want anyone to get hurt. Just let me handle this...... Hang on tight.

*Mike quickly assessed the situation, he felt the same power and heightening of his senses that he'd felt at the gang raid. The same time dilation. Mike waited till he saw the soldiers eyes turn, then moved. The startled soldiers had little time to react. Mike was behind the soldier and as he turned he grabbed the soldier by the collar and jerked him to the side, watching the bullet from the rifle across from him skim just past them to slam into the apartment building behind him.*

Kelly spun around: Sh**!! Son of a ....... *She quickly raised the rifle, then stopped, looking at Mike holding the soldier off the ground by the collar.*

Mike: Stop do you want to kill each other? *Mikes head snapped around toward Kelly. The anger in his eyes was deadly.* If you valued your life, you wouldn't be pointing a gun at me.*

*Kelly kept her gun on Mike..... How did he do that? Damn, what should she do? Kelly thought of the starchild file. Nothing in the performance data, suggested Mike could move that fast, it showed he was more than a match for a human in armor, but??..... She remembered the day before at the gang raid, could Hideki in armor move that fast? Kelly slowly lowered the gun.*

Kelly: Alright.... (Sarcastically) Captain..... what's next.

*Mike put the soldier down and stepped over to Kelly.*

Mike: I still want to know what's going on...... Shouko isn't going anywhere.

Shouko: Can't, big oaf won't let go.

Mike: Ok, if I put you down, will you promise to be good, no magic, and no running........ And my name is Mike, alright?

Shouko, pouting: Shouko promises, big........ Mikey.

*Mike groaned..... but set the little elf down in front of Kelly.*

* Kelly turned away, trying to suppress the urge to punch Mike in the face. He getting on the way of her mission was getting on her nerves. In the meantime, Samuel walked away while trying to contact one of their people inside Linda's lab. *

Kelly: Your little friend's "bodyguards" attacked John in front of his apartment. We tried to escape, since we were no match for their spells, but got cornered in a park, where Dr. Linda Halsey, John's mother, helped us. Then SHE *pointing at Kelly* blew us away and took John. Happy now, or do I need to call the gunships so I can arrest her?

*Mike looked down at the little elf. Shouko noticed the hard look in his eyes.*

Mike: Why, Shouko?

Shouko, looking down: Shouko was bad to do good.

*Mike noticed the girl taking quick looks around.*

Mike: I won't let you get away, now explain.

*Shouko looked up at Mikey..... she couldn't get away, he had that power thing. Besides, he had tried to help her, she owed it to him..... but what could she say?*
