Strange Yet Tasty...
Re: Strange Yet Tasty...
A favorite in the Netherlands, french fries with Satay sauce. If you can't get Satay sauce, drop a little peanut butter in a half cup of boiling water, add some ketchup and soy sauce, and enjoy!

According to the tall man, deep fried tarantulas are tasty...as are crickets. But he's also eaten worm omelets, so I don't generally believe him...
.....sometimes you have to lose your mind to find it......

Deep fried tarantulas? I think I heard something about that in the discovery channel. All I have tasted when it comes to exotic/strange food is chocolate dipped "hormigas culonas". They are very good, really.

"The legs and wings are removed; after that, the ants are soaked in salty water and roasted in ceramic pans."
Who in the world figures this stuff out? I mean, how long did it take them to figure out they could eat these things if you just take off the wings and legs, soak them in brine and roast them? Did they experiment with a bunch of other methods first? Was it an accident - like they thought they had lots of tiny little pieces of brisket?

Re: Strange Yet Tasty...
Dunno. My guess is some poor dude with no money to get food saw an ant nest and thought "Hey, maybe I can eat this to survive!". We Colombians are known because we don't let anything bring us down. Each one of us is a McGyver!
Also, found the official site (in spanish, with a small english section).

PBJ with bread and butter pickles.
Oh yeah.
You know you want to.
...seriously though, it tastes super delicious! I tried it completely on a whim one day. XD
