Yes the problem seems complex if you're not familiar with this language (i.e. math), but if we would be able to translate the problem into another language, then I'm sure more people would understand.
For translating the problem, it's helpful if you know about the shape of the sinus curve and the spots we're interested in:
The question is: Which slope does our sinus curve have at the point (x=0-π/2), is the curve steep (answer: between 0 and 1) or flat (answer: 0)?
