Back before I was text savvy and I didn't know what things like this ment, i would try to guess what they stood for.
For the longest time I thought BRB ment BathRoom Break.
What were some of your silly mistakes?

Well okay, not really a mistake, but just needed to update my lingo.
Back in the 90's there was a wrestler, who's trademark was F- The World, (FTW).

So after in 2000's I starting seeing, stuff like, So-in-so ftw! Rainbow ftw! I was like, um what?

then I found out that ftw is now for the win >< ugh hate being old. Kinda like, I use the term, rap(ped), which is an older term for discussing in long length. "Oh yeah, Kevin and I rapped about movies the other day."

also I use the term 86, and people under 30 look at me with a blank stare. which means to remove, take away, no longer useful. "Hey, Beavers. Those eggs need to be 86. They expire today."

I know what 86'd mean, but does anyone know what the origins of the term are?

I said "..... imo" to someone and she didn't know what "imo" meant :') So I explained it to her.

Once I was chatting on MSN with a friend of mine, then she left and when she came back she said "biw".. And I was like "biw....?", but apparently it means "I'm back" (ben ik weer) ._. I was really confused. I had to brainstorm about it with another friend who then also got confused by it xD

During the prohibition, there was a place and the address was 86 Bedford St. When police would raid, thru the front door they exited thru a secret panel.

I can't remember all the old phrases we used over the years that have fallen out of use. The early sixties, the beatnick and hippy years had lots of them.
