A terabyte drive for 52 bucks! And, I did have a bunch of my stuff backed up, just kind of spread over a few external drives.

Have two grandsons here for the weekend, Dinky's boys, they are just too darn cute. Ryker, 1.5ys, is just into everything, you can't keep up with him, I'm worn out. Lucky Dinky got to accompany her hubby to China on college business.

I decided to disassemble those wireless headphones and check the power circuit since the power led didn't even come on. After a bit of diagnosing and circuit tracing, I found where the voltage wasn't. Soldering in a couple tiny jumper leads bypassed the bad circuit board traces and the headphones are working. I may need a strong magnifying glass to see this stuff, but this old guy can still get the job done.

Too bad I didn't have as good of luck when I tried replacing the circuit board on my old hard drive. The replacement board did the same things the original did so the problem is most likely what is written on the disc.

If you want to try out your own headphones....... or just want to hear what I got my self into this year, Check out this facebook page and play the video of the men's chior. You won't see me, I'm on the far side and Oren is hogging the picture...... but I'm in there, singing second tenor. We were singing along with the organ for accompaniment so we could really let it all out.

If the hard drive is not making any weird noises, it may be that the file name file is bad. I have software that can search a drive and recover files in that situation.

Last Friday morning, it was around -26c and quite windy, there was a huge amount of ice crystals were in the air causing the most brilliant sun-dogs I can remember seeing. It was like rainbows on both sides of the sun, they were very bright and colorful. All I had was my cell phone to take the picture so it isn't as good as I wish it were. At sunset there were even prettier sun-dogs. It was quite a spectacular display.

Very cool picture. (no pun intended)
I should try to take some pictures of the light pillers I have been seeing lately.

Next Friday I start on my tour of Thailand and Myanmar. I get out of this frozen wasteland.

I found out my cheap laptop works pretty well ripping and encoding videos for my Samsung player so I should have plenty to take on my trip.
I bought a set of Bose QC15 headphones. They sound great and should quiet the noise on the plane.
