This is long, but it covers the two years in between, from Mike's point of view. It might be interesting if each of us could post something about what happened to our character in the two year interval. I'd like to read it anyway.

Interim Mike's view.

For the two years, Mike lived with the neko people. They built him a house, large enough for him to be comfortable. Aki remained living in the house that Mai Lei lived in. After a short time, Mai became Tien's mate, and moved in with him. Neko marriages are rather simple, the man asks the woman if she will be his mate, if she agrees she goes to live with him. The next day, at dinner, they break out the sake and everyone congratulates the couple. There is much merriment and advice given, often amusingly embarrassing advice.

But wait, How did the village survive when the rest of the land was in chaos? A couple of fortunate events, first, Mike came at the right time, second, Aki came. Mike was determined to help the villagers, and since Mike was fascinated by ancient wars, war machines, and fortifications, he was well prepared. He helped construct a wall around the village, with watch towers, and a ditch around with spikes in the bottom. They built powerful lever cocked crossbows from ancient designs, that held a number of arrows and fired like a repeating rifle.
The reason the nekos had been able to hold out till Mike arrived was that they had used a toxic plant derivative on their arrows. A number of the arrows could make the demon flee in pain, and enough of them could kill a demon. But there were getting to be to many demons. Mike's axe did much to hold off the demons while they built the wall, but the numbers of demons was increasing, and Mike was being overwhelmed. Aki's foxfire made her a very formidable foe, but her range was rather short, and this put her in danger of being overrun too. This caused a bit of argument between Aki and Mike, He did not want her in the line of danger, and she insisted that she had to help.
This argument ended during one attack, when Aki needed to help Mike but was to far away. She picked up a bow and arrow, and shot an arrow that streaked with blue foxfire to it's target. Aki had found a long range weapon. But again, the number of demons increased, and one Aki, was not enough to help Mike hold back the tide. This is when they discovered another fact, one of the crystals, common in the area, could hold Aki's foxfire magic. The smiths made arrow points with a shard of crystal embedded in it, this way Aki could store her foxfire in the arrows for others to use. This also worked well, since it was very tiring to use her foxfire magic, she could charge up the arrows over many days, and have a larger amount of them ready to use. In this way, they had repelled the attacks, and in time, the demons had decided to leave the valley village alone.

Also, Mike had taken a number of trips to the ruined cities nearby. Several of the other men would go with him, and they would return with whatever supplies they could find.

So two years had passed, and lately, some of the men had been ribbing Mike about why he hadn't taken Aki as his mate yet. Mike just kind of brushed it off as...... well...... as a joke or something. Worst was, now they were planning on expanding his house, adding a few rooms, they said he would need them when he had kids.......

And then, as Mike was returning from the wall last night, he was passing the common hall when he heard his name, they were talking about him........ Mike stopped by the window to listen.

Man: You know how much time they spend together, Saya, and they go off alone quite often. Now it just isn't right that they aren't living as mates yet. You know if any of our kin were like that you would give them council, I think it's high time you talk to those two. They're both of prime mating age, you know that it isn't good to wait to long.

Saya: Yes, I know how it is with young people, But they're just children.

Woman: And from such children, come other children. They spend much of their days together, it is only natural that they should spend their nights together. Should we wait till they're chasing their little ones before you talk to them?

*Mike stood his back against the building...... shaking. Was that whay the men insisted on adding to his house? Was there something that Aki hadn't told him?????....... No, wait, he started breathing again. Mike may be about as naive in these matters as one his age can get, but he had learned some things during his military days........ and children didn't come from kissing........ they came from..... Mike turned very red, they hadn't done anything like that. I mean, not that there weren't plenty of temptations , but, well....... Mike just wasn't like that. And he was sure Aki wasn't either. Not that he didn't really want her, after all, he was a man, but they had to be married first......... but here that was just.....

Saya: I'll consider what you've said. I can see they belong together, perhaps they just need help.

Mike hadn't slept at all that night, and all day Aki notice that he was quieter than usual, and seemed withdrawn. In fact, Mikes thought sere in turmoil. He finally decided, if they were going to live with these people, for who knows how much longer, he wanted Aki to be with him, all the time. He would ask her to come with him, and be his mate.

That night, as Mike walked Aki to her house, he was more withdrawn than ever. Aki really wondered what was bothering him, and was about to say something when Mike spoke up.

Mike: Aki.... um, I ..... well, we've been here a long time and, would you..... ah, I mean, I'd like you to..... I want to ask you if you'd like to........... ah, It's just, we've been together two years and, I was thinking.... would....... *Mike turned away* damn, I'm an idiot, what if she isn't ready for this....... We've always implied that someday....... but is this the day. Ummm, would you like to go home? Ahh, damn I promise you, some day we'll go back and find your parents...... Mike quickly walked off.

*Aki stood and watched him go, he'd been so frustrated he'd even forgotten to kiss her goodnight. Aki knew Mike had trouble saying things that were very important to him...... She was sure he meant to say something else, something that had bothered him all day. Aki would have to wait till tomorrow, Mike would be to upset and frustrated to talk about it now. She would find out tomorrow, she knew how to calm Mike and get him to say what he meant.*

*Mike couldn't sleep again, he was so angry at himself. Tomorrow, he would tell her tomorrow, tell her how he felt, and what he hoped for.*

*Little did they know, everything would change...... tomorrow.*

Rina's view

Six months after the event,Rina finally woke up from her coma only to find out that the world was in chaos and all her friends have died.the shock was too much for her, spending her days without eating or drinking in an empty room. One day shouko came into the room.

Shouko:Your deppress?

Rina:......

shouko:angry?

Rina:......

Shouko:sad?

Rina:.....

shouko:Then why are you taking this on us akiyama rina?

Rina:...im weak...

shouko:Then train*smiles at rina,*Be strong enough so we can defeat those things!!are you going to sit back and do nothing!!!

after shouko's talk rina undergo intense training under agnus, she was able to become a top agent in killing beast around the seal city, she was always partnered with agnus, she never once socialise with anyone apart from agnus, her comrades thought of her as a cold woman till in one of her mission she entered a house.

Agnus:This is the house....we receive a signal of help here....i must admire this person who was able to send us a signal through the satelite.....

Rina:somehow i can't imganine someone surviving in this place, what a lot of wires and cables...a survivor alright.

????:have you come to save me??

*Rina and agnus look up to see the girl staring down at her,she was covered in blood, and standing at the top of the stairs, her face pale and body weak*

Rina:yo-*the girl sudenly fainted,Rina reacted catching her in her arms, she let agnus and the others to check for othe survivors, when they came back*

Rina:her parents?

AGnus:none...But there's blood stains around the living room....my theory is that she came home from school and witness something horrible...

Rina:...so noone here apart from her?*looks at the girl*clever girl..

Agnus:your not thinkingthat she was the one who send us that message, she's only 14 yrs old...

Rina:more reason for her to be clever....lets head back for now...

after that she raised miri, the two became closed and little by little rina opened up to people.days after days she trained till she finally decided to go back to where it all began so she can be at peace.

Hideki's side of the story

"When Rina was taken away in that helicopter, part of Hideki died." Kunikida sips some of his hot chocolate. He looks out the window for a moment before continuing. "He had promised her that he wouldn't let anything happen to her, and he took it to heart. He's that kind of guy, always doing his best to keep his word. So after that he wouldn't eat, sleep or speak. He wouldn't even fight back when hit. One of the medics told me that he was suffering from clinical depression and to keep an eye on him because in the state he was in, he could even try to kill himself. He did try... Twice..." Kunikida looked down as he talked. I could tell he didn't like to remember those times. I told him it was enough for now and asked him about what happened after they left the city. "Well, we moved south, for no particular reason actually. When we were running low on supplies we happened to find this abandoned military base. You've already seen the small munition factory we built in one of the helicopter hangars and the greenhouse behind the hospital we are in. This hospital is our HQ. The energy comes from a small network of solar panels and wind turbines scattered all over the place. It took us a little more than a year to set up all of that. Things were hard before we had all this but now... well, things are looking up." I mentioned the monsters and he smiled. "We don't get attacked much, actually. Just three or four times weekly. Two on good months. It was a problem at first, but since we set up the munitions factory we have been able to recover the tanks and use them as stationary defense positions. Most monsters run away after two or three cannon rounds filled with cyanide-tipped tungsten flechettes... the ones still alive anyways." I was surprised and he noticed. He stood up and walked to the blackboard holding the blueprints of his latest designs. I had looked at them already, but didn't understood most of it since parts of the comments where in english and russian. I decided to ask again for Hideki. I wanted to know how he had overcome his depression and become the leader of the SFP. "At that time, Ringo was the one leading the defense. Nobody really knows why she named it Sleeping Forest Paramilitary, actually. Some say it was simply because Sleeping Forest was her high school gang, others say it has a special meaning." He looked out the window again, at the forest surrounding the base. "Everyone liked the name, though, so nobody bothered trying to change it. Anyway, it all happened back in April. It was a morning of a beautiful day, with the sakura trees blossoming in the distance. A few minutes before noon the monsters attacked. It was the biggest attack we have ever fought yet. Most of them where levels 2 to 4, but there were a significant amount of levels 5 and 6 as well. Our first defense line fell in less than 5 minutes and we were forced to fight from inside the HQ after only 30 minutes. Everyone thought it was over. Except Ringo, that is. She broke into Hideki's room, made him wear his armor then jumped through the window with him. Right in the middle of the monsters outside the hospital." Kunikida laughed and finished his chocolate. He sat down again and looked at me straight to the eyes. I could easily understand what Selene, the local idol, saw in him. He continued talking, still smiling. "Ringo fought off the monsters while talking to Hideki. He just sat there next to her, staring into the distance. We couldn't hear what she was saying but we do knew that even her couldn't fight all of them off for too long. Then Hideki stood up. It was as if everything around stopped, even the monsters. We could hear his words clearly, because he had left his radio on." Kunikida stopped and stood up, looking out the window again. We both kept silent for a minute, then I broke the ice and asked what had Hideki said. "He said 'I'll take back the life they stole from her... even if it kills me.'" Kunikida looked at me again, smiling broadly. "And then he punched a level 6 monster straight in the face. I don't know if it was the fact that I hadn't seen him move for so long or what but I could swear that punch was more powerful than a cannon round. It literally ripped the monster apart like it was nothing. After that we fought until sunset. The next day, Ringo passed him command of the SFP... and here we are." I smiled along with him, it sure was one hell of a story.
So, Lone Star, now you see that evil will always triumph... because good is DUMB!

Very nice..... A real contrast to Mike and Aki with the neko village, where they used medieval defenses and magic to hold off the demons. Now, what will happen when we get the characters back together? And it will be interesting to see how Rina is going to play into this. I'll be getting Kelly and Samuel back, with Aki and Mike..... I have a plan. It might take a bit though, I'm still waiting for Yuki to help me out..

I'm going to have to move ahead with Kelly and Mike, even though Aki hasn't said anything yet.

I'm so sorry for not posting in a while...our graduation is nearing and I have so many deadlines to catch up to...anyways...

I'm planning on Toru sticking around, I like him...and since he's an orphan he's quite attached to Aki. I've cut Aki's hair short, so sorry for screwing up any descriptions in the posts. Oldwrench can give me the details on how Mike and Aki will leave the village and I can go from there.
