*Jiao blinks as the sunlight hits her eyes the next morning. She groans and turns over, her back to the cursed sun as Lin uncurls from her ball and stretches. When Lin is done stretching, she meows at Jiao to get her breakfast. Jiao sighs as she tosses off her sheets and rolls out of bed. She shuffles to the kitchen and puts on a pot of coffee before going to the cupboard for a can of cat food. Lin jumps up onto the counter and turns up her nose as the can is opened*
Jiao: Sorry, I can't make you gourmet food all the time, and we can't afford going out to eat all the time either. Just be happy you're eating Lin. We've had worse than this.
*Jiao sets the plate of cat food on the counter next to Lin and goes to the refrigerator to grab what remained of the chinese food from the night before. Lin looks scathingly at Jiao who smirks back at her while eating some lo mein. Gesturing to the lo mein between her chopsticks Jiao explains*
Jiao: If you eat this stuff everyday you'll just get fat Lin.
*Lin turns and stalks out of the kitchen, snubbing Jiao with both her nose and her tail in the air. Jiao chuckles and tosses the empty container into the trash as she fetches a cup of coffee and the morning paper. Just as she sits down to read, her cellphone rings from the other room. She sighs and goes to answer it*
Boss: Good morning Jiao, I hope you've rested well, you have another big day ahead of you. An email has been sent to your inbox with your to-do list. Try and see that you don't mess it up this time.
*The line disconnects and Jiao tosses the phone angrily onto the bed. She stalks over to her laptop and proceeds to print out her list. Lin trails into the room after her with an inquiring look*
Jiao: Our list for today. Looks like we'll be checking up on Miss Hayes some other time. Our assignment this time is a mister Wicket. Apparently he's the police chief.
*Lin yawns at the news and jumps back on the counter to choke down the cat food*
Jiao: Yeah, boring I know. We're gonna have to do some field work first. Says here my alias will be... Sunny Winters from Austin Texas?! Augh!
*Jiao throws the folder down in disgust, turning to Lin*
Jiao: Do I look like a "Sunny Winters" to you?!
*Lin coughs on her food*
Jiao: I thought not.
*Jiao stalks into her bedroom, picks out some faded jeans and a blouse from her suitcase and some cash. She refolds the outfit and puts it next to the suitcase for later, then takes out black slacks and a white blouse for her quick trip to the store. Lin saunters into the room and sits on the floor washing her face with her paw. Jiao looks at her*
Jiao: You're pretty lucky, you know that? Being a human entails the clothes we need to wear, the food we need to eat, and the accessories we need to clean ourselves at the bare minimum. Being a spy entails as few of these items as possible and for them to be as discreet as possible, so as to leave as little a trail as possible,if any. Basically I envy you Lin. You'd make a better spy if you weren't attached to a human.
*Jiao turns back to her suitcase, closing it as she takes her clothes to get dressed. A few minutes later she turns to Lin and waves some cash so she can see it. Lin's ears perk up*
Jiao: We're going to the store for some supplies, we can get some food that's more to your taste while we're out.
*Jiao keeps talking as she heads out of the room*
Jiao: I'm going to have to fit into this part of "Sunny Winters" so I might as well dye my hair and give it a trim and style. We'll go to a department store for some hair products and makeup, then we can go to a pet store for some better food for you. Oh don't give me that look, I've heard that some of those gourmet cat foods they make now are comparable to human entrees. Rice and chicken, tuna, even salmon! I can't even afford salmon! I think I spoiled you too much Lin.
*Jiao smirks and Lin jumps up onto her shoulder purring as they leave the flat, locking it behind them*
